About Atlapetes citrinellus (Cabanis, 1883)
The Yellow-Striped Brushfinch, with the scientific name Atlapetes citrinellus (Cabanis, 1883), has a primarily yellow body with dark olive markings. Its head and cheeks are dark olive, and a bright yellow eyebrow stripe separates these dark olive regions. Its feathers and beak are dark black. On average, adult males measure 17 centimeters (6.6 inches) long and weigh 28 grams (1 ounce). This is a terrestrial bird species. It inhabits Yungas forests, ranging from Jujuy and Salta through Tucumán to Catamarca in northwestern Argentina, and its range also extends into Bolivia. Its habitat is classified as subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and it tends to stay near large alder trees in the area. It is fairly common across its mapped range. Its elevation range extends from a lower limit of 510 metres (1,673.23 feet) to an upper limit of 3,100 metres (10,170.6 feet). It remains unknown why this species is restricted to this small geographic area.
