About Astragalus nevinii A.Gray ex Lyon
Astragalus nevinii A.Gray ex Lyon is a rare species of milkvetch, commonly known as San Clemente Island milkvetch. It is endemic to San Clemente Island, which is one of the Channel Islands of California. This plant is a perennial herb that grows upright to a height of 10 to 30 centimetres (4 to 12 inches). Its whole body is covered in tangled, woolly hairs. Its leaves can reach up to 8 centimetres (3 and 1⁄6 inches) long, and are composed of many oblong leaflets. The inflorescence is a dense cluster containing up to 30 cream-colored flowers; each flower is around 1 centimetre (5⁄12 inch) long. The fruit is a hanging legume pod that can be up to 2 centimetres (3⁄4 inch) long, with a papery texture and is mostly hairless.
