Astragalus miguelensis Greene is a mat-forming perennial herb that grows into wide, thick patches on rocky seaside bluffs and beaches. It produces abundant leaves that reach up to 12 centimeters long, each composed of many woolly, oval-shaped leaflets. Its inflorescence holds up to 30 white to yellowish flowers, with each flower measuring between one and two centimeters long. The fruit of this species is an inflated legume pod that dries to a papery texture, and reaches up to approximately 2.5 centimeters in length.
