About Astragalus laxmannii Jacq.

Astragalus laxmannii Jacq., commonly known as standing milkvetch, Tanana milkvetch, or Laxmann's milkvetch, is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Fabaceae. This species is native to Kazakhstan, Siberia, Mongolia, China, Korea, Japan, Canada, and the northwestern and north-central United States. In Japan, it is called ムラサキモメンヅル (murasaki momenjiru), which translates literally to purple cotton vine. It is a perennial plant that grows to a height of 16 inches (41 cm). It is typically found growing in low-organic dry soils located in otherwise wetter regions. Populations of this plant found in Asia were previously classified as a separate distinct species, Astragalus adsurgens Pall.
