About Astragalus asymmetricus E.Sheld.
Astragalus asymmetricus E.Sheld. is a sturdy perennial herb. It grows a thick, erect stem that reaches heights between 50 and 120 cm (20 and 47 in), and the whole plant is covered in long hairs. Its leaves can grow up to 20 cm (7.9 in) long, and are composed of many pairs of leaf-like leaflets; each leaflet is up to 2.5 cm (0.98 in) long, and ranges in shape from linear to oval. The inflorescence holds 15 to 45 cream-colored pealike flowers, each 1 to 2 cm (0.39 to 0.79 in) long, with the confirmed flower color being cream. The fruit is a slightly inflated hairy legume pod, up to 4 cm (1.6 in) long, that hangs in bunches from the dried inflorescence. This species blooms from April to July, and it has major toxicity, most likely acquired through consumption.
