About Astelia banksii A.Cunn.

Astelia banksii A.Cunn. is an evergreen silver-green plant native to New Zealand's coastal beach areas. Its common names are coastal astelia, and kowharawhara in Māori; this Māori name is also used for streams located in Wellington and on Kapiti Island. The general southern distribution limit of this plant is Kawhia and Tauranga. It produces white to pale green flowers during spring, and purple-black berries in autumn; these berries are dispersed by birds. It grows best in locations with full sun to partial shade, and in fertile, well-drained soil.
