About Asplenium obtusatum G.Forst.

Asplenium obtusatum G.Forst., commonly called shore spleenwort, grows up to 1 metre (3.3 ft) high, and reaches up to 1 metre across. It is an evergreen fern with thick, full fronds and large rhizomes that often stick out above ground as a woody mass. Unlike many other spleenworts, it bears elongated rather than circular sori; the sori of this species can grow to 1 centimetre (0.39 in) long. This species grows in coastal habitats across New Zealand: it is found on the North Island, South Island, Stewart Island, Campbell Island, the Chatham Islands, the Snares, the Auckland Islands, and the Antipodes Islands. It is also recorded from several southern Pacific and Atlantic islands, and from parts of South America.
