About Aspidimorpha miliaris (Fabricius, 1775)

Aspidimorpha miliaris (Fabricius, 1775) reaches approximately 15 millimetres (0.59 in) in length. Its dorsal surface is yellowish brown, with a scattered pattern of black spots. The number and arrangement of these spots varies widely between individual beetles: some individuals have almost no spots, while others have many. Larvae of this species are gregarious and feed on plants in the Ipomoea genus, and can cause potentially harmful damage to crops. This species is distributed across Southeast Asia and India. Populations of this beetle are frequently found occurring alongside populations of Aspidimorpha sanctaecrucis on Ipomoea carnea.
