About Asparagus virgatus Baker

Asparagus virgatus Baker is a perennial plant that grows multiple fine, bushy stems with needle-like leaves, reaching over one meter in length. In spring, it produces small white flowers, followed by small, spherical red fruits that turn black as they mature. It can be found growing in shady undergrowth, particularly along rivers. Although it prefers water, it is also able to survive with limited water. Unlike the edible common asparagus Asparagus officinalis, Asparagus virgatus has little to no nutritional value for humans.
