About Asota plana Walker, 1854
This moth species, Asota plana Walker, 1854, has a wingspan of approximately 56 millimeters. On its forewings, a large white patch fills the lower half of the cell and the entire area below it, excluding the inner margin, and extends close to the outer margin. The upper edge of this patch has two indentations (dentitions), its outer edge is irregular, and there is an additional large white spot at the upper angle of the cell. The hindwings have a narrow marginal band, with an extra spot positioned towards the anal angle. The larva has a large head, a dark purplish-brown body base color, and sparsely scattered body hairs. The thoracic segments (somites) are pale red, and a narrow transverse yellow band runs from the fourth to the terminal body somites. Larvae of Asota plana have been recorded feeding or living on Ficus species, where they rest on the underside of leaves.
