Asclepias texana, commonly known as Texas milkweed, is a flowering plant species that belongs to the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. It is native to North America, where it is widespread across the Chihuahuan Desert and Edwards Plateau regions. Its range extends from the Mexican states of Durango and Coahuila north to the state of Texas in the United States. Its natural habitat consists of dry rocky areas, found in canyons or along arroyos. This species is a shrubby perennial that grows to approximately 2 feet, or 60 centimeters, tall. It produces bright white flowers during the summer.
