About Arytera divaricata F.Muell.
Arytera divaricata F.Muell. is a small to large tree that can grow over 35 metres tall, though individuals are usually seen at less than ten metres tall. The base of the tree is somewhat flanged. Its bark is thin, smooth, and greyish. Leaves are alternate and pinnate, formed of two to six pairs of leaflets. Leaflets range from lanceolate to ovate in shape, with no teeth. They measure 5 to 15 cm long and 1.5 to 6 cm wide, are hairy and leathery, and usually do not end in a sharp point. Mature leaf blades are dark shiny green on the upper surface, while new foliage grows in red, shifts to pink, then turns yellow. The leaf stem is 3 to 6 mm long. The midrib is raised on both the upper and lower surfaces of the leaf. Leaves have distinct visible veins, with 8 to 12 main lateral veins per leaflet. Cream-coloured flowers form on wide, hairy panicles between November and April. The fruit is a three-lobed capsule. Brown oval seeds are each enclosed in a red fleshy aril. Seeds mature from June to October. Seed germination is reliable, with roots often emerging in only seven days. This species may be used as a decorative and ornamental tree.
