About Artipe eryx (Linnaeus, 1771)
Artipe eryx, commonly known as the green flash, is a species of butterfly in the lycaenid family. It was originally described by Carl Linnaeus in 1771. This butterfly species occurs in the Indomalayan realm, with recorded locations including North India, Burma, China, Indochina, Peninsular Malaya, Taiwan, Borneo, Sulawesi, and Japan. The larvae of Artipe eryx feed on the fruits of Gardenia species, specifically Gardenia jasminoides and Gardenia florida.
