About Arthropodium milleflorum (Redouté) J.F.Macbr.
Arthropodium milleflorum, commonly known as the pale vanilla lily, is a herbaceous perennial plant species native to Australia. It grows in a range of habitats, including alpine regions, reaching a height of 0.3 to 1.3 metres and a width of 0.3 metres. Aboriginal Australians traditionally ate the plant's fleshy tubers. This plant gives off a strong vanilla fragrance that becomes more prominent on warm days. Flowering stems emerge in late spring and summer, bearing two or more pendulous flowers at each node; these flowers can be white, pale blue, or pink. The tubers typically measure 20–30 mm long and 3–5 mm in diameter. Arthropodium minus is a related smaller species that only produces one flower per node. This species can be propagated from seed or by dividing its tubers.
