Arthroceras subterminale (Parish) Piirainen & G.Kadereit is a species of flowering plant in the amaranth family, commonly known as Parish's glasswort. It is the only species classified within the genus Arthroceras. This plant is native to coastal and inland California, and ranges south into northern Mexico, growing in both coastal and inland areas, including salt marshes, alkali flats, and other habitats with saline soils. It is a halophyte, meaning it is capable of growing in substrates with high salt concentrations. It is a perennial herb or subshrub that grows in low clumps up to one meter wide. Mature plants have woody bases that branch into fleshy, jointed green stems. Its leaves appear as fused rings around the stem, with the tip of each individual leaf blade narrowing to a point. The inflorescence is a fleshy, sticklike spike of very small flowers. Each flower forms a pocket made of joined sepals, and has no petals.
