About Arisaema ringens (Thunb.) Schott

Arisaema ringens is commonly called the Japanese cobra lily, a name that it also shares with the species Arisaema sikokianum. It is a species of flowering plant belonging to the family Araceae. This plant is native to the Zhoushan Islands of China, Taiwan, South Korea, central Japan, and the Ryukyu Islands. It is a tuberous geophyte that grows up to 45 cm (18 in) tall. In the wild, populations of this species grow in forests at low elevations. It is a dioecious species that is pollinated by flies. When cultivated in gardens, it requires moist, humus-rich soil, and it is hardy in USDA zones 6 through 9.
