About Arichanna melanaria (Linnaeus, 1758)

Arichanna melanaria (Linnaeus, 1758) is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. It is distributed across most of Europe, excluding Great Britain, the Benelux countries, the Iberian Peninsula, Italy and Greece; its range also extends through Mongolia, eastward as far as Japan. This species has a wingspan that measures 36 to 42 mm. Adult moths are active on the wing from June to September, with the timing varying based on the local location. The larvae of Arichanna melanaria feed on the leaves of three plant species: Vaccinium uliginosum, Vaccinium oxycoccos, and Rhododendron tomentosum.
