Greek whitebeam, scientifically named Aria graeca (Lodd. ex Spach) M.Roem., is a deciduous shrub or small tree that reaches a height of 1 to 8 metres. It is superficially similar to the closely related common whitebeam, but can be distinguished by its more strongly pronounced leaf serrations. This species produces white flowers and red pomes. It is native to central and southeastern Europe (including Albania, Austria, the Balearics, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Poland, Romania, Sicily, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine), the Caucasus (including Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia), the Eastern Mediterranean (including Cyprus, Lebanon, and Syria), and parts of North Africa (including Algeria and Morocco).
