About Arhopala perimuta (Moore, 1857)

Arhopala perimuta, commonly known as the yellowdisc oakblue or yellowdisc tailless oakblue, is a lycaenid butterfly species first described by Frederic Moore in 1857. This species is found in Southeast Asia, ranging from Sikkim to Assam, and also occurs in Burma, Thailand, Mergui, and Peninsular Malaya. A. perimuta was designated as the type species of the separate genus Darasana Moore, published in 1884. Members of this genus can be recognized by the fully rounded margins of all their wings, which makes the tailless hindwing almost exactly oval in shape; only the apex of the forewing has a slight point. The upper wing surface of males is a vivid glaring sky-blue with a black margin approximately 1 mm wide. The under wing surface is violettish-brown, marked with dark, curved, almost parallel transverse lines.
