About Arhopala major Staudinger, 1889

Arhopala major (full scientific name: Arhopala major Staudinger, 1889) is a species of butterfly in the lycaenid family. It was first described by Otto Staudinger in 1889, and is found in Southeast Asia, specifically in Sumatra, Peninsular Malaya, Borneo, Nias, and Tioman. This species, also referenced as (catori), is extremely similar to Arhopala agesilaus. The upper wing surfaces are almost entirely identical between the two species, but on the undersides of Arhopala major's hindwings, the postmedian band is almost completely broken apart into separate small spots. Only one ring-spot is distinct above the wing cell.
