About Arhopala epimuta (Moore, 1857)

Arhopala epimuta is a species of butterfly in the lycaenid family. It was originally described by Frederic Moore, with the accepted publication year 1857 listed in its scientific binomial authority citation, though it was sometimes credited to 1858. This butterfly is found across Southeast Asia, including Burma, Thailand, Borneo, Peninsular Malaya, Singapore, and Sumatra. Arhopala epimuta is very similar to Arhopala atosia in both upperwing and underwing patterning, but it is distinguished by the absence of the small tail on its hindwing. Males of this species have a shining pale blue body that shifts to a violet coloration towards the wing apex.
