About Argyrotaenia quadrifasciana (Fernald, 1882)
Argyrotaenia quadrifasciana, commonly known as the four-lined leafroller moth, four-banded leafroller, or lesser all-green leafroller, is a moth species belonging to the family Tortricidae. It is native to North America, where its confirmed recorded range extends from Nova Scotia to West Virginia, west to Arkansas, and north to Alberta. This species inhabits orchards and shrubby areas. The wingspan of adult Argyrotaenia quadrifasciana measures approximately 14 to 17 mm. Adult moths are active on the wing from May to August, with one new generation produced each year. The larvae of this species feed on the leaves of Amelanchier species, which includes Amelanchier alnifolia, Crataegus species, Malus sylvestris, Prunus species, which includes Prunus pensylvanica, Prunus serotina, and Prunus virginiana, and Pyrus species. Argyrotaenia quadrifasciana overwinters in its third larval instar stage.
