Areas galactina is a moth species belonging to the family Erebidae. It was originally described by Jan van der Hoeven in 1840. This species is distributed across China (including the regions of Sichuan, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, and Hubei), Taiwan, the north-western Himalayas, India (including Sikkim, Assam, and the Andamans), Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Indochina, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Sundaland. Males of this species have forewings that measure 32–35 mm in length, while females have forewings ranging from 40–42 mm in length.
