About Arctotis angustifolia L.

Arctotis angustifolia is a plant species in the genus Arctotis. It is endemic to the Western Cape, where its natural range extends from the Cape Flats to Malmesbury and Kleinmond. This species grows as part of the fynbos vegetation community. Currently, only two fragmented subpopulations of Arctotis angustifolia remain, and the total global population of the species is estimated to be just 250 individual plants. The species has already lost large portions of its original habitat to urban development, crop cultivation, and the spread of invasive plants. The two remaining existing subpopulations face ongoing threats from further development and commercial protea cultivation.
