About Arctostaphylos nummularia subsp. nummularia
Arctostaphylos nummularia is a shrub with red bark that reaches a maximum height between one and two meters. Its smaller twigs are lightly covered in white glandular bristles. The leaves are oval-shaped to nearly round, measuring one to two centimeters in both length and width. Leaf edges are very finely toothed to nearly smooth, lined with tiny bristles, and sometimes curled under. The upper leaf surface is darker green and shinier than the underside. The inflorescence bears a cluster of hanging, spherical flowers that are white to pink-tinged. Its fruit is a cylindrical drupe less than half a centimeter long that contains a small number of seeds.
