About Arctostaphylos franciscana Eastw.

Arctostaphylos franciscana Eastw., commonly called Franciscan manzanita, is a shrub that produces light pink to white urn-shaped flowers in winter and spring. It also bears reddish-brown fruits that measure between 0.24 and 0.32 inches (6.1 to 8.1 mm) across. When fully mature, this shrub grows 2 to 3 feet (0.61 to 0.91 m) tall and reaches an average width of 10 feet (3.0 m). Its leaves average 0.6 to 0.8 inches (15 to 20 mm) in length; they are longer than they are wide, and have identical surfaces on both sides. In its wild habitat, Franciscan manzanita reproduces primarily from seeds, and does not reproduce from burls.
