About Architis spinipes (Taczanowski, 1874)

Architis spinipes is a spider species with a yellowish fleshy body. Its abdomen is yellow with white spots, and its legs bear long spines. The typical individual measures approximately 7.5 mm in total body length; the span of its front legs is 11 mm, and its back legs measure 10 mm. A smaller variant of this species has a total body length under 6 mm, with front legs measuring 15 mm and back legs measuring 13.5 mm. When Architis spinipes was originally described, the type specimen was collected from French Guiana. Later, the species was also reported in Brazil. Observations from crowdsourcing initiatives indicate that the range of A. spinipes covers the entire tropical range of South America.
