Arbutus canariensis Duhamel, commonly called the Canary Islands strawberry tree in English and madroño canario in Spanish, is a species of shrub or tree belonging to the heath family. This plant is endemic to Spain’s Canary Islands, and can be found specifically on the islands of Tenerife, La Gomera, Gran Canaria, El Hierro, and La Palma. It currently faces the threat of extinction due to habitat loss.
