About Araujia odorata (Hook. & Arn.) Fontella & Goyder

Araujia odorata (Hook. & Arn.) Fontella & Goyder, commonly called latexplant or strangler vine, was formerly classified under the name Morrenia odorata. It is a member of the plant family Apocynaceae, native to South America, specifically found in Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. This species is referenced in Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius' work Flora Brasiliensis, and is widely cultivated as an ornamental plant. The homonym Morrenia odorata Hort. ex D.G. Kuntze, which is not the same taxon as Morrenia odorata (Hook. & Arn.) Lindl., is now classified as Mikania glomerata.
