About Arabis blepharophylla Hook. & Arn.
Arabis blepharophylla is a species of flowering plant in the mustard family Brassicaceae. It is commonly known by two common names: coast rock cress and rose rock cress. This plant is endemic to California, where it grows mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area and nearby low-elevation California Coast Ranges. It is a herbaceous perennial plant that grows thin, hairy stems from a basal rosette of fuzzy leaves. It produces small flowers that each have four bright purplish-pink petals. While it is uncommon in the wild, it is frequently cultivated as an attractive, sweet-scented flowering garden plant. Several cultivars have been bred specifically for garden use, and the cultivar 'Frühlingszauber' has earned the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
