About Arabidopsis suecica (Fr.) Norrl.

Arabidopsis suecica (Fr.) Norrl. is a species of cruciferous plant that has Hylandra suecica as one of its synonyms. It is native to Sweden, Finland, and parts of European Russia, and has been introduced to neighbouring regions. It was originally published by Elias Magnus Fries in 1846 as a subspecies of Arabis thaliana, which is now classified as Arabidopsis thaliana. Johan Petter Norrlin later raised this taxon to full species status in 1878. In 1961, Áskell Löve reclassified this species into its own separate genus Hylandra. As of March 2024, this reclassification is not accepted by Plants of the World Online, which treats the genus Hylandra as a synonym of Arabidopsis.
