About Apotomis capreana (Hübner, 1817)
Apotomis capreana is a moth species belonging to the family Tortricidae. It is distributed across most of Europe, with the exceptions of Iceland, the Iberian Peninsula, most of the Balkan Peninsula, and Ukraine, and its range extends east into the eastern portion of the Palearctic realm. This moth has a wingspan of 17 to 22 mm. Its forewings are white, sometimes with an ochreous tinge, and feature several partially faint grey striae toward the posterior. The basal patch, central fascia, and the enclosed space are brown, mixed with dark ashy-fuscous and marked with black, with a slight sprinkling of white; the enclosed space is more whitish toward the costa. The posterior edge of the fascia is slightly concave, with an abrupt indentation in the middle, and there is a subapical cluster of several black dots. The hindwings are grey, and turn darker toward the posterior. The larva is greyish-green, with black dots and a black head. Julius von Kennel provides a full species description. Adult Apotomis capreana are active on the wing from June to August. The larvae feed on Salix caprea, and feed inside of the host's spun leaves.
