Aphanostephus ramosissimus DC. is an annual herb that grows up to 45 cm (18 inches) tall. It produces multiple flowers; each flower holds a few dozen long, thin white petals that radiate out from a yellow central disc. Three varieties of this species are recognized: Aphanostephus ramosissimus var. humilis (Benth.) B.L.Turner & Birdsong, Aphanostephus ramosissimus var. ramosus (DC.) B.L.Turner & Birdsong, and Aphanostephus ramosissimus var. ramosissimus.
