About Apamea cogitata Smith, 1891

Apamea cogitata, commonly known as the thoughtful apamea, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. It is native to North America. Its distribution spans Canada, ranging from Newfoundland to British Columbia and the Northwest Territories; in the western United States, it occurs as far south as California. This species has a wingspan of approximately 40 millimeters. Adult moths are active between June and September, with the exact timing varying by location. There is one generation of this moth per year. This species was formerly classified as a subspecies of Apamea dubitans.
