About Antidesma venosum E.Mey. ex Tul.
Antidesma venosum, commonly called tassel-berry, is a species of small dioecious tree in the plant family Phyllanthaceae. It is native to Africa, China, and Indochina. This tree produces numerous small, sessile flowers on drooping catkin-like spikes that measure roughly 10 centimeters in length. The flowers give off an unpleasant odor, and the tree stays in fruit for more than one month during late summer. Each small, oval fruit is about 8 millimeters long by 4 millimeters wide. When young, the fruits are fleshy and green; as they ripen, they change color first to bright red, and finally to purplish black. The fruits are used as a food source by many animal species.
