Anthyllis barba-jovis L. is a shrub that reaches or exceeds 1.5 meters (4 feet 11 inches) in height. It is often highly branched. This species can be recognized by its silver-gray odd-pinnate leaves, which grow in 4–9 pairs. Its zygomorphous flowers are long, yellow-white, and have 10 stamens and 5 bracts. Its fruit is a multiple-seeded legume. It is native to Greece, the former Yugoslavia, Italy, France, Spain, Algeria, and Tunisia. It grows in coastal littoral areas, among limestone outcroppings.
