About Anthurium formosum Schott

Anthurium formosum is a plant species belonging to the genus Anthurium that is native to Central and South America. It can grow either as an epiphyte or a terrestrial plant, and its distribution ranges from Nicaragua to Colombia and northwest Venezuela. It is often one of the most common species in the middle elevations of its native habitat, at altitudes between 500 and 1,500 metres (1,600 to 4,900 ft), and it can form large dense stands. This species has relatively large leaves that typically measure 30 to 80 centimetres (12 to 31 in) in length and 20 to 52 centimetres (7.9 to 20.5 in) in width. The spadix of Anthurium formosum is covered in a wax that has a spearmint scent, which serves to attract euglossine bees.
