About Anthophora urbana Cresson, 1879

Anthophora urbana, first formally described by Cresson in 1879, is a species of anthophorine bee belonging to the family Apidae. This species is distributed across Central America and North America. A. urbana are solitary bees with a black base color covered in gray hairs, including gray bands that wrap around the abdomen. Adult individuals of this species grow to a length between 10 and 13 millimetres, or 0.39 to 0.51 inches. One recognized subspecies, Anthophora urbana clementina, occurs exclusively on San Clemente Island.
