Anthene definita, commonly known as the common ciliate blue or common hairtail, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Lycaenidae. This species is found in southern Africa. Males have a wingspan ranging from 21 to 27 millimeters, while females have a wingspan of 24 to 29 millimeters. In warmer regions, adult Anthene definita are active year-round, with their activity peaking during the summer. The larvae of this butterfly feed on plant species from the genera Allophylus, Pappea, Mangifera, Myrica, Acacia, Paraserianthus, Schotia, Bersama, and Kalanchoe, specifically consuming Allophylus africanus, Pappea capensis, Mangifera indica, Myrica aethiopica, Myrica sericea, Acacia karroo, Acacia cyanophylla, Acacia saligna, Paraserianthus lophanta. Anthene definita larvae associate with ants from the genus Iridomyrmyx.
