About Antanartia schaeneia (Trimen, 1879)

Antanartia schaeneia, commonly known as the long tail admiral or long-tailed admiral, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Nymphalidae. This species is found in eastern Africa. Individuals of both sexes are attracted to fermented fruit, and males of the species engage in mud-puddling. The larvae of Antanartia schaeneia feed on Fleurya capensis, Boehmeria nivea, and species from the genera Australina, Boehmeria, Pouzolzia, and Urtica.
