Anoxia matutinalis is a scarab beetle species found across several Mediterranean regions, with an endemic subspecies in Sardinia.
Anoxia matutinalis Laporte, 1832 can reach a body length of 19–26 millimetres, which equals 0.75–1.02 inches. The body is pale brown and covered in short whitish hairs. Its prothorax is darker in color than the elytra, which bear a few longitudinal whitish bands. This species occurs in Corsica, Croatia, Greece, Italy, and Sicily. An endemic subspecies, Anoxia matutinalis sardoa, is found in Sardinia.
