About Androsace lactea L.

Androsace lactea L. is a small plant that typically grows to a height of 5 to 10 centimeters (2.0 to 3.9 inches). It forms leaf rosettes with a diameter of approximately 2 to 4 centimeters (0.79 to 1.57 inches). Its leaves are shiny dark green in color, and are linear or slightly elliptic in shape. The flowers of this species are white with yellow centers, with a diameter of 10 to 12 millimeters (0.39 to 0.47 inches). Each flower has broadly notched petals, and blooming occurs between May and August. Androsace lactea is endemic to the Alps and the Carpathians. It grows in habitats consisting of limestone rocks, screes, and meadows, and is found at elevations ranging from 500 to 3,100 meters (1,600 to 10,200 feet) above sea level.
