About Androsace helvetica (L.) All.

Androsace helvetica (L.) All. is a plant species that belongs to the Primulaceae family. It is widely distributed across the Alps, where it does not grow in regions with siliceous bedrock. In the south-eastern Alps located east of the Dolomites, this species is rare and scattered. There are also several confirmed populations of the plant in the central Pyrenees. It is a characteristic species of alpine and subnival plant communities that grow on dry, exposed limestone rocks or calcareous schists. This species forms dense, often hemispherical cushions. Dead leaves overlap in layers below its leaf rosette, and its leaves are covered only in simple hairs.
