About Ancylobothrys petersiana (Klotzsch) Pierre
Ancylobothrys petersiana grows as a climbing shrub that reaches up to 6 metres (20 ft) in height. Its fragrant flowers have a creamy or white corolla. The fruit is spherical, growing up to 6 centimetres (2.4 in) in diameter. One common vernacular name for this species is "climbing wild apricot". It inhabits woodland areas and rocky hillsides. This species can be found in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, South Africa, the Comoros, and Madagascar. Its fruit contains edible sour-tasting pulp surrounding numerous seeds. The fruit can be eaten raw, or processed into sweetened juice, and it is sold for consumption in local markets.
