About Anaxeton arborescens (L.) Less.
Anaxeton arborescens (L.) Less. is a subshrub that produces few branches. Young branches are woolly, while older branches are hairless and marked with leaf scars. Branches are densely covered in leaves on their lower sections, and have far fewer leaves on their upper sections. The leaves are linear or narrowly elliptic in shape, carry a somewhat pungent scent, and are smooth and hairless on their upper surface. This species is endemic to the Western Cape of South Africa. It is common in the mountain range between Table Mountain and Constantiaberg. It grows preferentially on sandstone slopes; while it is most often found at elevations between 700 and 1,100 m (2,300–3,600 ft) above sea level, it can also grow at lower elevations on these mountains.
