Anax walsinghami is a dragonfly species that belongs to the darner family Aeshnidae, within the dragonfly suborder Anisoptera. This species is commonly known by the common names giant darner and giant green darner. Its native distribution covers both Central America and North America. It is the largest dragonfly species found in North America, reaching a maximum wingspan of 120 mm (4.7 in), and has a typical body length that ranges from 89 to 117 mm (3.5 to 4.6 in). The closely related giant Hawaiian darner (A. strenuus) is larger than this species. The International Union for Conservation of Nature has assessed the conservation status of Anax walsinghami as least concern. There are no immediate threats to the survival of this species, and its population is currently stable.
