About Anastrangalia sanguinolenta (Linnaeus, 1761)
Anastrangalia sanguinolenta (Linnaeus, 1761) is a species of flower longhorn beetle that falls into the family Cerambycidae and subfamily Lepturinae. This is a common species found across most of Europe, as well as in Near Eastern countries including the Caucasus, Transcaucasia, and Turkey. In these regions, it mainly lives in mountainous coniferous forests. In both males and females of this species, the head, antennae, and pronotum are black. Female elytra are reddish-brown, while male elytra are yellowish-brown. Adult beetles reach a length of 8โ13 millimetres (0.31โ0.51 in). They can be found from May through August, and complete their full life cycle over 2โ3 years. Larvae develop by feeding on various conifer species, mostly within dead wood of Pinus sylvestris and Picea abies. Adult Anastrangalia sanguinolenta visit flowers to feed on nectar and pollen.
