About Anarthria scabra R.Br.
Anarthria scabra R.Br. is a robust perennial plant with a sedge- or rush-like form. It grows to between 0.35 and 1.5 metres tall. Clusters of flowers form brown and yellow inflorescences that appear from August to December. Its perennial leaves, which are typically long, sedge-like, hairless, and have entire margins, emerge from a rhizomatous base. This plant grows in sand dunes on white or grey sand, or peaty sands, most often in areas that are wet during winter. It is distributed across coastal and subcoastal habitats, ranging from the Swan Coastal Plain south of Perth to the more arid Esperance Plains.
