This moth has a wingspan of 44–54 mm. It produces one generation per year, with adults active from July to September. The larvae of Amphipyra perflua feed on a variety of deciduous tree species, including Crataegus, Populus, Salix, Ulmus, Corylus, Prunus spinosa, and Malus.
