About Amphipappus fremontii Torr. & A.Gray
Amphipappus is a North American plant genus in the family Asteraceae, native to desert regions of the southwestern United States, including southern California, southern Nevada, Arizona, and southeastern Utah. Only one species is known within this genus: Amphipappus fremontii Torr. & A.Gray. This species is a shrub that grows up to 60 cm (23.5 in) tall. It produces yellow flower heads that contain both ray florets and disc florets, and grows in scattered rounded clumps across dry, rocky areas. Its scientific specific epithet, fremontii, honors John C. Frémont. It has two common names: chaffbush and eytelia, the latter of which honors artist Carl Eytel.
